Former Miss Chios Pageant Participants
 
It is my distinct honor to welcome all the young ladies ages 16 to 26 to participate in the Miss Chios 2010 Pageant. As we all know, the MISS CHIOS Pageant is one of the special events hosted by Panchiaki “Korais” Society for more than thirty years.  Again, one beautiful and intelligent young Chian woman will have the opportunity to win the title of Miss Chios.

 

One of my most memorable experiences as Miss Chios was when I visited the island for the first time during the summer of 2008. Growing up, I heard many stories from my grandfather and now I am able to see, not only the love that he possessed in being a Chioti but also the rich cultural background that we all take pride in.  It was also a great honor for me as Miss Chios to march down 5th Avenue at the Greek Independence Day Parade and to award a $2,000 check on behalf of the Korais Society to the children of special needs in Chios.

 

I am thankful to Panchiaki “Korais” Society for giving me this opportunity and hope to visit Chios again many times over. I realize and appreciate Korais’ educational and philanthropic goals in supporting Greek culture, our schools and our youth.

 

This year the winner of the pageant will have a choice of selecting a $1,500 scholarship towards college expenses or a roundtrip ticket to Chios, Greece compliments of “Korais” Society and a week stay at the Chandris Hotel.

 

The first runner up will receive $300, the second runner up $200 and all other participants $100. In addition all applicants will be refunded their ticket to our Annual Dinner Dance.

 

So, please take a few minutes of your time to fill out the attached application and mail it to the Panchiaki “Korais” Society Inc, 43-15 202nd Street, Bayside, NY 11361, or send it via e-mail at koraisny @ verizon.net. You may also bring the application with you the night of the pageant, but I strongly suggest that you mail it in advance before April 11th 2010.
