Greetings to all Chiotes from the officers: We are hoping that each of you will have a wonderful 2006. The year of 2005 was a wonderful year for our Chios Society. This newsletter will review the accomplishments of 2005. Also, we will announce some pending events coming up for the year 2006. In addition, it is membership dues time. We will need you to pay your 2006 dues. If there are any past years’ in arrears, we would like those sent in also.

Agia Markella Icon

This year we were able to acquire a beautiful icon of Agia Markella from the Chios Society in Canton, Ohio. It is a rather large icon. She has found a home at Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. We are thankful to Rev. Fr. Stephen Callos and the Parish Council for giving her a home. We are hoping that sometime this year, our society will be hosting a brunch or a luncheon in Agia Markella’s honor.

Annual Dinner-Dance

Mr. Bert and Dr. Marjorie Moyer were the 2005 Honorees. We were so happy to honor such deserving people. We wish them continued successes. Panta Axoi-Ke Se Anotera. The evening was a success. The food and music were good. We had many of our new members in attendance.

The band-Stigma-was great. The plans for his year’s event are in the making.

Christmas Party

Our first Christmas Party took place in early December 2005 at Sts. Constantine & Helen Cathedral. Santa Claus took time out of his busy schedule and came to visit us with gifts for everyone. The children were just enthralled by the whole event. The adults got to visit with Santa and relive their childhood. 2006’s Christmas Party plans are taking form. Do not miss it this year.

Charity Work

In the year of 2005, we donated to IOCC, Beth Pappas Cardiac Program in Boston, Massachusetts, the Greek Independence Day Parade, the Hospital in Chios, and other organizations. Beginning with this year, we have already donated to the same charities, helped a family in Vrondados, Chios, Greece and to the Metropolis of Pittsburgh’s Daffodil Luncheon where part of the proceeds will be going to Cleveland Metro Hospital’s Pediatric Burn Unit.

We would be amiss if we did not again thank Dean G. and Kathy Crimples for their generous donation to our chapter for the last two years. Panda Axoi!

Greek Independence Day Parade

We will be participating in the parade on Saturday, March 25, 2006. All members are asked to join in to represent our group. Services will first be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Cleveland. The parade will take place after Divine Liturgy.

Chiotiko Convention

We are going to sunny California at the end of October, 2006 for this year’s convention. Detailed

information will be forth coming.

2006 Membership Dues

We would like all Chiotes to become members of the Chios Society-Cleveland Chapter 7.

Like all other organizations, our chapter needs all of the Chiotes as members. Consider your membership as an investment in our heritage.

Membership dues are nominal.

As a NEW member, the dues for a family membership is $ 25.00 and for a single person is

$ 20.00.

As a RENEWING member, the dues for a family membership is $ 20.00 and for a single

person it is $ 15.00.
